This Day In History: 1613-06-29
London’s original Globe theater, where many of Shakespeare’s original plays were, performed was destroyed by fire.
An interesting anecdote from my own trip to London: the replica that’s there now actually has a thatched roof — the only one in London and, as you can imagine, it has a very good sprinkler system. The theater does not stand where the original was. If you take a short walk, you’ll find, near some housing, a plaque where the original stood.
